Who is Really at Fault in the "Credit Crisis"?
She is trying to make it "on her own" and used a friends PC to order this card from some "bank" (Premier) in South Dakota 
She even gave them her SS # in filling out the app 
(so who knows how that will be used and where it will go)
They sent an actual card, no number to call to "activate", etc.
It "gave" her a "line of credit" of $250. It charged her a "fee" to enroll of $179. First payment was due in 7 days! $25 min payment (get her into the "minimum payment staple of their business).
I tried to call the co. to give them a what for and of course they will only talk to the "card holder".
I then sat down and explained to her that she was, without purchasing a damn thing (@ 9.9% int which can escalate after 25 days to 19.9%) in the hole for $179! (and there is even a $48 fee each year) 
I will see that this $179 is never paid and card is shredded, but it got me to thinking about all the whining that is b eing done about the "credit crisis". Cos. are going under as their LOC’s are not renewed, and here are these charlatans taking advantage of an 18 year old with this kind of crapola.
The worst part was (and its partly my fault I guess) is that she didn’t see anything wrong with the whole thing………
(thinks I’m a mean old man much like one of the boy’s wives years ago thought when I told her what I thought of her getting into a house with some land attached in an int only loan with a 5 year balloon — I told her what would happen if the property devalued, her circumstances changed [she was a nurse making good money], or int rates rose substantially. She would have built no equity, her ability to pay was compromised, and her idea of re-financing property was in question now as (even though rates didn’t go crazy) she is "upside down" in property. To this day she hasn’t said a word about the deal even though she went ahead with the deal and is definitely "upside down"…….)
