Times are changing
Over 12 years ago, the residents of St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana voted out video poker and casinos because we’re a family-oriented community. Many moved here to the parish years ago because it was a better place to raise their kids than New Orleans is (though I hated to see them move in). Ever since Katrina, we’ve gotten a lot more of the riff-raff over here which means increased crime. All of St. Tammany has felt the effects and us "old-timers" don’t like it. Now, on top of all of this, our Parish President, Kevin Davis, wants to open a casino boat right here in my city! Had he said Covington or Mandeville, it probably wouldn’t make me as mad because most of those people originally came from New Orleans and they’ve made the area what we call "Little Metarie" because Metarie is a bedroom community of New Orleans.
I’ve seen what happens to small towns after the casinos move in, the main drags are lined with pawn shops with bars on the windows and I don’t want that shit here. Bay St. Louis, MS is a prime example of this and it sickens me. The area Mr. Davis wants to build the boat and hotel is right off the interstate next to an area where 7 acres of land lists for $10,199,500 and homes are on the market for $3,790,000. He calls this "progress" and a way to lower property taxes but I call bullshit on that because they’ll never lower the taxes, though they may not raise them anymore.
Unfortunately, with the influx of foreigners (people from south of Lake Pontchartrain), the vote will likely pass. They couldn’t be satisfied living in the filth and crime that they turned New Orleans into, no, now the bastards are over here trying to make even more changes to my little city and turn it into a haven for more criminals. Fuck them. I wish they’d all move back to New Orleans and never come back. BTW, in Picayune, MS, a dry town, the assholes that moved there from the New Orleans area are trying to force a vote to allow hard liquor. They even went as far as putting a sheet over the "Welcome to Picayune" sign that read "Welcome to North Chalmette".:cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

Okay, I’ve had my rant…..don’t feel any better though.
