The Historical Jesus

While I understand that this topic has been discussed, I still hope that people respond to my thread.

I wish to pursue a discussion about the historical Jesus and two key areas that have challenged me in my own faith:

1. There are two Non-Christian sources that depict Jesus; Josephus and Tactius. Which are noted here: http://www.philipharland.com/Blog/20…torical-jesus/

A couple of questions I have:

*Do you consider these sources valid? Why or why not?

*Why do these men not speak about Jesus’ miracles, His claim to be God, and his resurrection?

Other than these Non-Christian sources, why hadn’t anyone talked about all the miracles Jesus performed? If a man was healing people from sickness/death, wouldn’t that be the talk of the world?

Secondly, there has been debate about the strikingly similarities between Horus, an Egyptian god, and Jesus. For example:

Both were baptized at the age of 30
Both had 12 disciples
Both delivered sermons on the mount
(more on the website)

While I understand that some of the similarities were probably made up, I have to admit that this Egyptian god sounds a lot like Jesus.

Question is:

Do you believe Christianity adopted some aspects and stories of the Egyptian, pantheistic religion? Do you believe other religions adopted from the ones before it, like Islam, Hinduism and so forth?

Why are there similarities between Horus and Jesus? How do you explain this?

Finally, I want to admit that both the atheist and the Christian have their own agenda. We all want to be right and so we seek out evidence (or disregard it) to prove our own faith, opinion, or agenda. I just want everyone to take in all the information and sincerely tell me their thoughts.

Thank you
