Red Cross Comedy Session: Israel "Trapping" Gaza
The Red Cross released a damning report Monday on the effects of the Israel-led blockade on the Gaza Strip, describing the 2-year-old measure as having trapped the coastal territory’s 1.5 million residents "in despair."The international humanitarian organization lamented the fact that the blockade, imposed after Hamas seized control of Gaza two years ago, was impeding reconstruction efforts after Israel’s offensive in the Strip at the beginning of the year.

Oh, Uh, OK. I understand… Israel has put up a blockade because they are dealing with a hostile, enemy government and that is trapping Gazans… But I seem to remember something about Gaza sharing a border with a fellow Islamic country that shares similar anti-Israel sentiment — like, what are those guys doing with Gaza right now? Helping them? But wait… How could they be trapped if only Israel is sealing one of the borders? Oh boy, this sounds complicated…
Let’s see:
Egypt’s role in the economic isolation of Gaza has received little attention until today, when Palestinian gunmen destroyed a large chunk of the wall at the border town of Rafah, the only point where Palestinians can cross directly into the outside world without passing through Israel.
In what looked like a mass prison break, tens of thousands of Palestinians poured into Egypt to snap up food and other items that have been in short supply. The chaotic scenes have put the spotlight on Egypt’s support of Israel’s policies in isolating Hamas, the Islamists who seized power in Gaza by routing Fatah last June. The isolation has extracted a huge toll on Gaza’s 1.5 million inhabitants as detailed in today’s Guardian by Karen Koning AbuZayd, commissioner general for Unwra, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine, and by bloggers, such as Khalidah.
The Guardian
Oh, wow — so Egypt built a Berlin wall to trap their fellow Muslims and insure the longsuffering of the Gaza strip?
It is understandable that one nation with real, true grievances concerning Hamas would isolate the nation but why is Egypt punishing their own neighbors, when they are united in many ways against Israel?
And more than that — why is the media and the Red Cross spinning the entire thing against Israel when we can see that Egypt has done the same thing but has provided no reasoning as to why they are doing their part in isolating, demoralizing and impeding the reconstruction of Gaza.
That is the million dollar question.
It takes two to trap Gaza — it’s not just Israel.
Enough dishonesty.
